About the artist
An expressive young pianist shaped by Montréal's classical tradition and a curiosity that reaches far beyond the concert hall.
Kris Sossoulo began his musical journey in choral singing and piano at the Maîtrise des Petits Chanteurs du Mont-Royal. He later entered the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, studying first with Suzanne Goyette and then with acclaimed pianist Louise Bessette. In 2026, he completed his first university cycle in piano performance under Louise Bessette.
Alongside music, Kris pursued aerospace engineering studies at Polytechnique Montréal. This uncommon path reflects the qualities at the heart of his artistry: discipline, imagination, structure, and an enduring search for possibility.
Resilience & purpose
Beyond the stage
Kris was born with sickle cell disease. Throughout childhood, urgent medical care, hospital stays, recovery periods, and missed school repeatedly interrupted everyday life. Piano became a place of continuity—a discipline he could return to even when his health demanded rest.
His perseverance helped inspire Keys of Hope, RefugeRoot's free music-education program for vulnerable children in Togo and Benin. The project gives children access to instruments, caring teachers, and a creative space where confidence, discipline, resilience, and joy can grow.
